We bought a used phone system from another company and need to do some line programing. Main problem is only 1 phone rings. How do I get the other lines to ring.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Marlene

Marlene66 what you need to do is program the other sets to have the main lines Ringing and appearing on them .
It is actually set programming you need to do .
You do know how to access the programming of the system right ? what type of system is it ?

What do you mean by system?

It is a Nortel Norstar Compact ICS and the only resource I have on it is the Telephone Feature Card.

Marlene, here are some links for the documentation for a CICS. The Installer Guide will provide directions to add the lines and if you have an older release, the directions are still the same. You will need Adobe software to download.
Thanks to Schlum for information on those links.

some observations:
1. Great site for techs to pass tips and tricks back and forth.

2. If the above links were on my site I would probably have to remove them once they became posted in here, due to the fact that bandwidth is not free. They tell two friends etc, ad infinitum.

3. Marlene; a new phone system can be daunting to someone who has no experience with them. Yes you could read the above manuals, and after 3 or 4 hours you may be able to make your phones ring. Or you may not. Either way I am sure you value your time more than that. May I suggest looking in your local yellow pages for a Nortel dealer. They would be able to program your phones in 5 minutes, and give you some insight and training into what they are capable of
