I am trying to run my PHP program that uses class Snoopy to access the HTML of web pages. It goes through about 300 pages for 10 minutes, then stops. A program that uses only CPU, periodically writing the current time, runs for hours with no problem. If I can’t fix it, an alternate solution would be for another program to start it up, and restart it after it stops, if possible.

That has nothing to do with the problem
What did have to do with the problem? Was it that search engines limit the number of times that they are accessed in a leeching attack because they want to protect their copyrighted content?

The reason why it would have been good to offer your code sample here is because users at Tek-tips are more prone to review your existing code to offer suggestions than to write code for you. It is difficult to understand your application based on the little information provided. Tek-tips users provided very general solutions because they had a very general idea about your application. Instead of going right to the matter, this thread has gone into confusion and argument.

I do not take the same offense that others have taken to the style of your earlier posts. The only issue I have is your use of snoopy to leech work that is not yours. Snoopy is a great way to establish a proxy for anonymous surfing and testing your web server. Using snoopy for leeching and asking for help to violate copyrights on Tek-tips is wrong.

I do not doubt the programming skills of chvol and suggest that no one attacks him on this matter. As someone who has personally paid a heavy legal price for some questionable computer activity, I hope to educate others in ethical, legal use of online data. Even if programmers continue to ignore copyright, it is good to know that search engines like Google place physical safeguards on leeching. Perhaps this would be a lesson to us all to employ anti-leeching measures in our own applications.

rotflmao!!!![medal] chvol you can have a medal for your last post. I have to say it was the funniest thing i have read in a long time!

Nope, never seen saturday night live so i have no idea what you are talking about.

I have been programming database applications for 31 years and have developed approximately 20 major applications. I also wrote a 184 page book on advanced programming techniques which was very well received.
name the applications and name the book!

Look here and you will see that i do actually post code for well formed questions! (ps, i got a star for that one! did you? and all i did was read a manual)
