I have a MICS 7.1 with a NAM II 4.1

I need to program a station which does not have a physical phone to go immediately to voice mail when it receives a call.

Is there a way to do that ?

allworxguy, do you mean that I should create a mb with the same number as the DN, but not set any mb number ?

what mb does the DN forward to ?

can I change that ?

how do you open a mb without a number ?

ot, can I set a station without a physical phone to cover to a different DN ?
 
When you are creating a m/box, you give the mailbox a # and the next step is to assign the ext'n # it is supposed to be associated with. When you see that press the "#" sign. Enter a COS and a name.
This will create a "Guest Mailbox" which is not associated with an extension.

If you tell callers to call "XXX" extension and you have set "XXX" extension up as a guest mailbox, it will not ring but go directly to the mailbox.

The answer to your last question is that you can assign a mailbox to any extension you would like, but it does get confusing if you don't keep them the same (ie. General Mailbox is 100 while the reception desk set is 221)

what I wanted to know in the second question is how to set up a DN without a physical phone to forward, but not to a voice mail box, but rather to another extension, as though it were on cover and covered to another extension.

Answer buttons serve this purpose.

First, you need to setup a DN that doesn't have a phone attached to it. This is called a Phantom DN. You will need to assign the Phantom DN some Intercom keys so it can receive internal calls and transferred calls. You can also assign the Phantom DN lines and target lines, if you need to.

Second, you need to setup the other extension so it is alerted of calls on the Phantom DN. Terminals & Sets > [Other Extension] > Line Access > Answer DNs > [Phantom DN]: Appear & Ring. This will assign an Answer feature on the button above the existing Intercom buttons on the other extension. Whenever a call rings the Phantom DN, the other extension will also ring and the indicator next to the Answer button will flash.

I will try to spell out more clearly what I want, so that those of you who have kindly responded won't spin their wheels needlessly.

Even so, I have certainly learned new things here, and thank everyone.

What I needed to explain is that I have a hunt group which I want to set forward no answer (=forward on busy in 7.1) to go to another hunt group. Of course, you can't do that directly (forward one hunt group to another), so I want to forward the first hunt group to a phantom DN, and then cover that DN to the second hunt group.

So now the question is, how do I set the phantom DN to forward immediately (no rings) to the second hunt group, as a physical phone would do if it were on cover.

When it comes to hunt groups, there are no such things as "Forward No Answer" and "Forward on Busy". Instead, there is a combination of settings that you can use to reproduce the same behaviors.

Forward No Answer

You use the "Overflow" setting to enter the DN where you want the calls to be forwarded when they are not answered by any member of the hunt group. The DN can be a Hunt Group DN, so you wouldn't need an intermediate Phantom DN.

You use the "Queue Timeout" setting to choose the number of seconds the calls will ring the members of the hunt group. When the timeout occurs, if the calls were not answered, they are forwarded to the Overflow DN.

Forward on Busy

You use the "If Busy" setting to choose what happens when the hunt group is busy. If you choose the "Overflow" value, calls are forwarded immediately to the Overflow DN when the hunt group is busy.

Of course, you can forward one hunt group to another. All you have to do is use the "Overflow" setting as I explained above.

You could set your first hunt group to overflow to a Phantom DN: that will work. But then, you wouldn't be able to go further: you cannot assign an Answer button to a hunt group.

I don't think you can.

In order to forward immediately, you would have to use Call Forward All Calls (Feature 4). But, to do so, you would need to have a set plugged in at all times.

last question here (I hope).

I oflow hg01 to hg02. on no answer, I want hg02 to oflow into general delivery mailbox.

from the CCR tree, I want press zero and do nothing to go to hg01.

if I assign F982 (system atendant) to 739 (HG01), then do nothing follows press 0 and goes to hg01.

the attendant set for table 1 is not relevant in this situation.

do I have the above correct ?

how do I overflow hg02 into the general delivery mailbox ? does that need a phantom DN pointed to mailbox 100 ?
