when I try to open microsoft foxpro (which is my real estate ad progra) it comes up with an error message that says and error has been detected in the execution of this program. It also says PROGRAM INITBF, LINE # 18
ERROR NUMBER 114, INDEX DOES NOT MATCH TABLE, RECREATE INDEX.

ANY SUGGESTIONS. I'M SUFFERING.

I feel, the index is currupted. You have to reindex the database concerned. In some cases, you may have to delete the index and then recreate it. Another idea is to pack the database and this will reindex the database automatically, if the deleted records are present and dropped in the process. You can choose one of the method suitable to you.

Carrie,
Does your application have access to a REINDEX menu routine before the problem occurs? Is there a REINDEX menu routine available if you could get past the error?

Do you have a data backup prior to the problem? Do you know what's been changed since then?

Is the developer (or company) that provided (sold) the application still available?

Depending on the version of the FoxPro program you are using, there may be some "external" things you can do to get past the problem. Is this a DOS (character) based program? Is it Windows based (not just running under Windows), and does the documentation metion anything about "FoxPro for Windows" or "Visual FoxPro"?

How much data do you have? Could it be zipped up and e-mailed to someone that could fix it and send it back? (Obviously a level of trust would have to be established in this case.)

For someone to really help you remotely, we'll need more information. What city are you in? Perhaps a local developer could help you out.
