I have re-installed Front Page 2000 after reinstalling the computer completely.

I registered my prodct long ago! But just re-installed front page 2000. Now every time I open up the program it says I need to register and gives me one choice. Telephone registration. If I click register now, it crashes (a gp fault in user.exe). I can click register later and work on a project but each time I do that, I am told that front page will only run so many times before I have to register it. It's down to three (3) more runs before I have to register it.

This is the full, CD version.....bought at academic prices. It's already been registered. Now what? Can I hack the registry somehow to make it know that I've registered with microsoft? What? I don't want to have to refromat the computer, I can't do that until I get a CDRW drive for backup.

Any ideas or solutions?

I've never seen this happen with any full version of FP including those we get with academic discounts.

As much as I hate to suggest it, the only real solution to this one is to call MS. If you have a registration key, they can give you another one or give you a solution.

PS, academic pricing doesn't mean buying it from the kid at the next locker. ;)

I have FP2000 and have never registered it.

But i have heard of this. Some copies of MS software has been sold to students through schools. The students aren't told that this software has a time limit on it. Its not the retail version of the software. When the time is up, its up. The people I personally know that had this happen to them were just out of luck.

I bet you paid a real cheap price for it too... right?

Remember, nothing is free you get what you pay for.

Thanks for your replies!

This is the FULL RETAIL VERSION but purchased at academic prices (MS has a program like that).

Well, when it got down to 1 time left to run it, the strangest thing happened. Instead of just giving me the telephone registration option, it gave me others this time. Internet, email, telephone, fax, mail in card... I chose internet this time (again since I registered it when I first bought it last year). It didn't crash! Wow!

Well, now it's registered again and runs normally!

:)
