I still have the same problem of getting the "windows is dangerosly low on resources" message. I have run Spybot SD, Ad-ware, Panda virus scan, I have read all the threads in this forum and checked each type of fix and I still get the the message and the lock up. I am running Win98 SE SR1 with all the patches applied, IE 6 with all the patches applied. I have 384mg RAM ,80gig HD. It seems that if I disconnect from my DSL I don't get the Resource message, but every 15-20 seconds a message that says "IE trying to connect to the web do I want to work offline" pops up. I click yes and it reappears in 15-20 seconds. I have turned off all the programs in msconfig so nothing is running that I can see. I only have the system tray and explore running when I CTL-ALT-DEL. So when I reconnect to the DSL, no popup comes up but after 5-10 minets, just leaving the machine idle, I try to open any program and I get "Dangerously Low On Resources". I have tried to run scandisk and defrag only to find out that something is accessing my HD and aborts both programs. I am at a loss as to what to do next. Anyone else have this happen to them and how did you fix it.

D/L and run CWShredder, and see if that helps.

thanks ski, have done that twice. I find that the following can not be deleted from my autoexec.bat. "set ctsyn=c:\windows, it comes back everytime I restart the computer, in conjunction with that Win Tools which has assosiated with it wtoolsa.exe, ezmmod, ezula, mmod.exe keep reinstalling themselves no matter what program I use to remove them. I have even manually removed them and they keep coming back from someplace. My system resources are at 90% when I reboot and still within 5 to 10 min. lockup and Windows is dangeroulsy low on resources and there are only two programs running when I ctl-alt-del.

thanks again ski, I did as you ask. I posted my hijackthis file to the thread you placed. Thanks for the info on the autoexec.bat, that takes one less thing off my list of possible problems.

You're welcome.
Good luck.

Ski,
After deleting the things that the people in the forum said to delete from my HiJackThis log, the problem still was there. I lost my patients and finaly spent 5 hours transfering 2-3 files at a time untill all were backed up and then fdisk and re-installed everything. It all works fine now. Thanks for your help.

Glad to hear that you fixed things, and it's working ok.
