I've been asked to create 4 digit extensions that will ring international numbers and have had a hard time finding detailed documentation. I have suggested System Abbreviated dial but they want extension numbers. I've found where I can use UDP/AAR and have a route pattern strip and replace digits but would have to do this for every number (there's a lot of them). Is there an easier way to do this?

I have a Definity G3R, Version 6.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, Thanks!

Why not just create a vdn with a new vector with a route-to step in it? Thats the easy way

Sorry. didn't read the whole post "there are a lot of them" my bad

How many is a lot? Do they all have the same International code, area code and prefix? The AAR route is the easiest if the above is the same. Your users would hit the AAR number you assign then the last four digits of the international number. Let us know the Block of numbers...maybe we can work it out.

Thanks for the quick response!About 40 numbers to start with but I'm sure there will be more. The numbers vary but there are small blocks with the same international, area code and prefix, one block would be 011-49-69-7167-7XXX. If I use the AAR would I have to create a different UDP code for each 4 digit extension?

Try udp. Open your dial plan for 7. "CH UDP 7" Put an AAR Code. Send the AAR through a Route Pattern, Inset 901149697167. Not sure that will work. Got too many number to insert.

What about using speed dials?
You have several lists available, depending on who all needs access to these numbers.

Not all the numbers are the same country code/area code, there are 3 different blocks.
I've suggested speed dial as well as Abrv dialing but they want 4 digit extensions (no logical reason). I will try the UDP this morning. Thanks

If you have the numbers I can give you the exacty template. Here is a sample of what you posted earlier and how it will be programmed.

1. Do a 'cha dial ana'. Enter the digit you want to access the "International Extenstions". (I currently use 9 to dial and outside number and 5+XXXX to dial a remote office.) If the number is already listed, change the "Total Length" to 1. Change the "Call Type" to fac. Hit enter.

2. Next, do a 'cha rout' enter in a number of a unused route pattern and hit enter. For the "Pattern Name" label it "Inter. Ext." Arrow down to line one. For "Grp No" enter in the trunk group number you wish these calls to go over. For "FRL" enter in 7. For "NPA" enter the area code you are in. "Pfx Mrk" enter 1. Skip "Hop Lmt" and "Toll List". Enter 0 (zero) for "No Del Dgts". For "Inserted Digits" enter 01149697167. Hit enter and your route pattern is set up.

3. Do a 'ch aar ana 1'. The AAR table will come up. For "Dialed String" enter the first digit of the International Ext. 7 (In your post you stated they started with 7.) Next in "Total Min & Max" enter 4 in each field. For "Route Pattern" enter the number of your new inter. ext. route pattern you made in step 2. For "Call Type" enter aar. Hit enter.

You should be able to dial your AAR number and four digit extention of the international number. (i.e. AAR+7XXX)
