I’m babysitting an XPe FR3 farm using AD

Could u explain a bit about profile behaviour

I’ve been informed that they don’t use roaming profiles – but that a lot of the apps have settings in the users profile folder

Each user account has an X drive mapped to a central Citrix Profiles folder

My question is what is the process when they log onto a Citrix server – is it that the central profile is written from the central location onto the Citrix server ?

You can quickly check what profiles are used in AD users.

Open a user and go to Terminal Services Profile. If there is anything in the Terminal Servicese Profile box then this is where the profile is stored. This profile is copied into C:\Documents and settings when they login to a citrix server. It should be copied back when they logoff, and deleted from c:\Documents and settings.

Other wise their profile will be in c:\Documents and settings on each citrix server they connect to.

Are they/you mixing up profiles and home directories? They are diferent things !

No definitely profiles ! The TS Profiles points to a central profile area

But in this case is this not a roaming profile - i was told they only use local profiles !

Yup that is a TS profile and it is romaing, so they speaketh of what they know not.

That profile will be loaded into C:\Documents and settings whilst the user is logged in and then deleted, or should be, when they log off.

If it doesn' see delete locally cahced copies of profiles, in local security policy.
