Our network consists of a NT 4.0 Server, NT 4.0 workstations, and my newly upgraded Windows 2000 workstation.
After installing Windows 2000 I logged in with my usual username, password, and domain. When I log
in I get the following error:
"Windows cannot load the users profile but has logged you on with the default profile for the system.
Detail: Access is denied."
Apparently there is an issue with NT 4.0 profiles not converting to Windows 2000 profiles correctly.
I am having trouble when trying to install applications, one of the applications Forte - the version
for 2000 when opened states the following error: "Cannot setup a user directory". I have also tried
setting my profile to local, but I still get the same error on login. Can anyone offer any solutions
on the problem I am facing?

Log in as the local admin on the machine, then add your domain account to the local PC, then log off the admin account and log back in as yourself and you should have an account now.

Give yourself Admin access if you want to install programs.

The system should have kept your account, unless whoever did the upgrade told it not to. CJ

Nope couldn't solve it, ended up deleting my profile, now everything works nicely.
