Hi everyone,

I've never use Mac OS. But I've to find out a anti-virus for a network under Mac OS X for a customer. This must be a profesionnal solution to protect the attack from the Internet AND/OR the personnal PC (under mac os x).

Do you know some solution (McAfee, Sophos)or website?

Thanks in advance,
Best regards,

Betan

BTW you are aware OSX comes with a personal Firewall and that there has never been (yet) a OSX virus? (virex does help against MS Office macro viruses, which are cross platform)

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.

So, can you tell me more about Virex.
->Is there software client that could be install on each PC? (you understand?)
->"Virex doesn't help against MS Office macro viruses" but does he detect them?
->Is it a fast anti-virus?
->Is there any difference with the windows version of McAfee Anti-virus?

Many thanks

P.S. : jimbopalmer you say BTW ???? What does it mean?

1) yes, Virex installs on each Mac (it is not for PCs), there are monthly DAT file updates

2) Whoa, I never said it would not work on MS Office macros, it does.

3) On Mac OS 9 it is speedy in the background but slow to scan the entire drive. I never used the OSX version.

4) I have not owned a Windows box, but they obviously are checking for different viruses. I think the PC version updates automatically rather than once a month.

5) BTW is By The Way, sorry

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.

Hi,

I saw my boss yesterday and he give me more information.
So, I search a antivirus to protect a mail server (from webattack or viruses from the Internet): Quickmail (on MacOs X).
For example we install ScanMail when we use Microsoft Exchange.

Thanks,

Betan
P.S. : thanks for your information Jimbopalmer

Hi,

I found nothing concerning MacOs Anti-virus for mail server.
But I found hardware anti-virus.

So if you got some idea!

I am running Virex 7.2 on OS X 10.2.8 - I have it set to update definitions monthly but you can update manually as often as you wish. I've run it a couple of times just for something to do but have never even so much as sniffed a virus (our PC scans everything & is constantly coming up with threats or viruses).

I got Virex free with my .mac account but you can buy it from McAfee - here's the link:
