I am having problems (go figure) at a client meshing an HP procurve switch with a Cisco 2900xl. I have set the hp to tag all vlans (wich I had to manually create) and then create identical vlans on the Cisco switch and set up the uplink port to be the trunk. The problem I'm having is only the vlan associated to the port is acessible after the changes.

is anyone aware a a good method of tagging between these two devices? Is there a config step being missed?

Hi.

Try to set up the trunk encapsulation to dot1q.

Under the trunk interface:
switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q

The default encapsulation in 2900xl-models is Cico proprietary ISL.

That has been done. I also set a natice vlan to the port. I wasn't able to get the switch to keep from getting blocked out any other way. Any other ideas?

You also need to do a similar setup on your HP switch. I don't know the commands, but you'll need to tell to to allow the vlans with their 802.1q tags to the 2900's port.
