The 513 terminal on the one & only Definity I maintain went bad & is unrepairable. Seems they are unobtainable also. I use ProComm Plus for remote connection so tried to direct connect a PC to the G3 using ProComm. Using a 25 to 9 pin adapter I have tried regular cables, null modem cables but cant get the PC to talk to the Definity. The only thing I havent tried is rebooting the Definity with the PC attached. I am on the correct com port in the PC. I was wondering if anyone has had success with this arraingement ? Am I missing something ? Some proprietary connection out of the DB25 ?Appreciate any help. Thanks

Procomm, ASA, Terranova, tutty, Avaya Terminal Emulator are all software programs that should work find when directly connnected to the SAT terminal port on the control carrier. No tricks. Straight rs232 cable is required.

Connect to the port labeled 'TERM', not the one labeled 'EIA'.

Actually, there are several hardware platforms for Definity and all use rs232 cable to the System Managment Terminal or SAT.
Installation documents show tables and connector labels.

g3si - Terminal, Terminal Active connector of "A" carrier MCC (Multiple Carrier Cabinet) if duplicated spe

g3si - TERM, DOT (Duplication Option Terminal), of "A" carrier SCC (Single Carrier Cabinet) if duplicated spe

g3vs - Not sure how this one is labeled.

g3csi - finger J3 (TERM) of octopus cable for SAT
definity one, aka contry or IP600 - uses NT PC for admin

Thank you AvayaTier3 & 4merAvaya for your responses. Wasn't able to answer you sooner as my wireless internet provider was having problems & just got everything repaired.

I'll go thru the setup again & see if I'm missing something. Wish I had another one to do some "comparative " testing. Of course theres always the possibility that the "term" port is bad also. Guess I better dig out my old break out box.. Thanks again guys. BTW,its a G3VS
