Hi,
I would like to replace the default icon for ProcommPlus desktop shortcut. Is it possible? What is the default file name and extension?
Thanks,
Joseph
Are you wanting to change the picture displayed in the shortcut? If so, right click the shortcut, select Properties from the context menu, and click on the Shortcut tab if necessary. Click on the Change Icon button, browse to the EXE or DLL file with the image you want to use, select an icon, and click OK twice to save this change.
What I really want is to put our company logo instead of ProcommPlus image on the desktop shortcut on each client computer (makes it easy for them to recognize the shortcut where to start the telnet session) and also to replace ProcommPlus image (the globe) with the company logo and name on the title bar in the telnet session screen.
My company logo image file can be in any image format like .ico, .jpg, .gif or .tiff or needs to be an executable or .dll file?
It would need to be in a DLL or EXE (that's the way Windows works when it comes to icons). You can likely find a freeware tool that will let you create a DLL or EXE file with the icons of your choosing (I know there are tools to go the other way and pull images out of executable files).
Thanks I found Icon Cool Icon Editor, created my onw icon and replaced the desktop Procomm icon. Now I need to find which icon is the one displayed in the title bar, extract it from the .exe and replace it as well. I still don't know how to change the title bar text from Procomm Plus Telnet: to my text.
Replacing the icon in the Procomm window itself is probably not going to be easy to do. The window text itself might be a little easier (a hex editor may be required), although you can write a short script using the pwtitlebar command to change the window title somewhat.
Thanks Knob, for now probably I will stay with the title text/image as default and for the shortcut I already replaced the deafult image, thanks for your help. Do you know by any chance if Procomm allows SSH? I'm using Double Vision to connect to other terminals to fix errors in real time, to connect I do the following:
from my regular telnet session I do an su - and after the password I use dv pts/# and I'm connecting to the pts/# terminal, but by doing this everytime I'm consuming a BBx license (BBx - Business Basic Extended) and the only way to clear those extra used licenses is to reboot RedHat. I called the technical support for Double Vision and they suggested to use Double Vision from the root login directly, not as super user, so than no extra license will be used, but from security reasons, RedHat doesn't allow connecting with root user name only from the console, but it does allow remote connection through SSH telneting. I'm using Procomm already so I thought it would be nice to use it with SSH as well, otherwise I'll need to use Putty.
Thanks,
Joseph
