It can still be purchased (I just checked amazon)but there has not been any new releases or development done to the software in years.
The 4.8 version is the most current and it was never certified for XP even though tons of folks are using it on XP with no problem. Its a really a shame Symantec has not continued to keep the product current because there really is a large number of people who still use it. I think its the best terminal software out there myself!
Just because they stopped making and delevopment on it doesn't mean you shouldn't buy it. Iv'e been using Procom since the original DOS version. I'm using 4.8 now.
someone will pick it up, to many of us swear by it. like ace, rls 1 was dos base and most of us used it as shareware. html was not out yet and 90 the net was a group of geeks with bbs access, and it was usually by chance if you found more then one person posting to a site at the same time..
I use ProComm Plus for years now, I have it on a desk Top with Win 2000 Pro and on my laptop with Win XP Pro and I have not had any problems using it, with 986 areas with 60 buildings I can take my laptop to each building and call back to my pbx and make changes with out running back and forth. And I still use the Dos verison on another desk top.
I agree, if it is not broke, don't try and fix it.
