My ProComm crashed. I forget how, but it became corrupted and forced me to reinstall it.

Reinstalled, but now I don't have a view of my VT520 terminal. Problem with this is, I was inside MerMail when it crashed. So I can't even get in on the main terminal. All it does is say OVL406

On the ProComm PC, while it says CONNECTED...there's no visual response on the main screen. I don't know if there was some setting I forget to do after install.

Using a null modem cable.

Try hitting controll R to redraw the screen from the procomm connection. You may have to find the keyboard mapping information to get your f-keys to work with Mer Mail. I think you can find them at ghtrout.com

You can reboot the mail and it will drop the connection. We were having this issue a while back, so we finally junked the MM and migrated teh users over to our centralized Call Pilot.

so your in an 11? might try a different port.. but i'm betting your going to need to ini.. i never recogmend that except on the 11.. when it has a glitch, your options are limited.. (you don't have 10 tty ports and dual everything)

It worked fine before. Haven't made any connection related changes or anything. Still got my keyboard file for the F keys thanks to some threads here.

I'll try the reboot. Need to at least get into MM even if its through the terminal.

Oh by the way, if it helps any...after a few minutes of seeing nothing on ProComm...eventually some garbled characters will fill up a few lines on the screen.

Check baud in the procomm, it should be 9600,8,n,1 but on some systems I have seen it at 9600,7,n,1.

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

Still not working. Here's a few of my settings.

Baud 9600, 8 and 1. In ProComm and Windows. Also tried 2400.

Terminal setting VT-320

Transfer Protocol Zmodem

direct connection-com1

Try going in on TTY 0 of your SSC. The baud rate is set by the dipswitch on the front. It will be 8-N-1. You will need a null-modem adapter and either a 25pin to 9pin adapter and then 9pin cable, or a 25pin to 9pin cable. Unless of course, TTY 0 is the one that's not working... If you can at least get the TTY to respond that way, then you might follow the suggestion of rebooting the MM and see if the PBX then lets you log into it, etc.

Rebooted already. I can get into MM on my terminal now.

Already have a null modem cable setup. This worked for the last 8 months or something until ProComm crashed and forced me to reinstall.

So if you can get to MM, now can you get back to the PBX? You don't have to log out all the way of MM (I don't think) but the escape character is CTRL+] if I remember correctly... Either CTRL+] or CTRL+[

Then you should drop back to the "SL1" prompt and if you hit enter a couple of times you'll get the regular PBX prompts...

did you see the ini on the screen? if not that port may have crashed

What do you mean to INI?

On a different/faster computer now. I ran Procomm and i had a lot of garbled C characters come up anything I pressed ENTER. Went to make the Com1 and Terminal type changes and still back at where I was.

Blinking cursor that produces nothing regardless of what I type.
