I'm rather new to our phone system which was set up before I started working here. Our PC running Procomm has somehow lost connection to our Option 11 system. I know the system is working fine because we have a monitor and keyboard direcly connected to the phone system and I can still control it but without the Procomm I am unable to run scripts and get file captures. I'm really not sure where to begin to troubleshoot since I don't know much about the Procomm application. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Open procom look for data connections and see if one of them is the connection to the switch you are looking for. if so click on it.

When you click on it you have to press connect. Or double click it as by pressing OK will only close the window.

When you double click the connection you're after, in the bottom left you should see some kind of connected message.

I tried double clicking on the connection and hitting dial, but the status in the bottom right corner of the screen still says Not Connected and the majority of my tools across the top of the screen are greyed out.

most of the tools apply after you get connected. try changing the comm port, that is the most common problem with a lost connection. could also be the speed or baud rate

Thanks for the tips guys...somehow someone who got into the phone system changed the connection to direct connect-none instead of com1 like it should have been. I'll have to investigate who had access to it but its good to know what to look for in the future.
