I am trying to log in to an option 11 remotely using procomm. No sucess. I hit the modem, but when I typed, the cursor keeps blinking and doesn't do anything...it sometimes give me an "x".

I have a friend in Florida that called in and had success login in, but not me from where I am calling.

I did use his parameters....

WYSE 75
9600
8-N-1
(I tried using other parameter, no luck either)
The only diferences we have is that he is using an external robotic modem and I am using the internal modem from my dell laptop.

Could it be my telephone line or am I missing something?

Please Help.

Tommy

go into your modem settings within procomm and set the baud rate to 9600 before you dial in.

It will work after that.

i did set the baud rate in modem to 9600 and also tried vt 100, 320 and nothing...men, let me tell you I don't know what else to do...

Is there a modem on the other end or an SEB?

not that uncommon.. internal modems can cause that because windows tries to control everything.. your setting your protocols but the registery may not allow that to happen..

i've had almost the same problem.. instead of using a directory entry, get your setting where you want them and us atdt xxx xxx xxxx return... i've used that as a work around...

Had the same type of trouble with the on board modem on my Dell Latitude D630. Dell's tech. support could not make it work either so they replaced the mother board on my three day old laptop. Still didn't work.

The solution:

Installed a U. S. Robotics 56k PC Card Modem. Model USR056-XJ.

Thanks,

M3904DBA - Thank you for your post. I have been banging my head off the wall dealing with my Dell D630 internal modem.

This will be ordered immediatly.

Thx

M1north,

While troubleshooting the problem, and looking at a U. S. Robotics modem brochure, it occured to me that the modem that previously worked might still be in the old laptop. As luck would have it, is was.

Can't tell you where to buy one ...

Thanks,

Ebay is a good place to start.

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

if a us robotics can't dial in, find a better job... they make good stuff

There are some modem AT commands that may help:

ATS37 = 9 (Forces 9600b on older modems)

or

AT+MS=V32 (Forces 9600b on newer modems)

some model modems need it this way;

AT+MS=V32,0,0,9600,0,9600

Well no luck yet..there is robotic on the other end...I tried the AT Commands.....I guess I wil get a robotics modem.

Thanks everyone.
