Hi, I'm having some trouble with a procomm script. I'm working on a computer for a florist and they have this florist software called DoveNet. Basically it allows them to contact other florists when they need to make an order that's out of their area. DoveNet comes bundled with Procomm 4.6. When the program starts it also starts Procomm with a command line swtich to load DoveNet's script, dovesys60.wax . When it loads it, Procomm minimizes to the taskbar and promptly crashes. I've tried loading procomm without the DoveNet script and it runs fine. So my question is, is there any way to edit the DoveNet Script or Make it not crash?
The script file is a Wax file and I don't have the source (I know that's probably going to make it harder).

In case it helps I'm running Windows 98SE and just in case here's the Fatal Error:

PW4 caused a general protection fault

I appreciat any help you can give me. Thanks.

I think you are going to have to ask them to provide you with a modified .wax file that does not minimize Procomm to the taskbar. Below is some discussion from my site about problems running Procomm minimized. You might try adding Procomm's tray icon to the startup group as mentioned below and see if it alleviates the problem in your case (this may work if Procomm is not started minimized but is minimized after launch).

One question I receive occasionally is how to launch Procomm Plus minimized without the splash screen appearing. Unfortunately, this cannot be done, but you can minimize (pun intended) the appearance of the splash screen by following the below steps. Run Procomm Plus, right click on the globe icon in the system tray, and select Add to Startup. This will cause a "stub" to run automatically, complete with splash screen, that will place the Procomm Plus icon in the system tray on Windows startup. Next, right click on the Procomm Plus desktop shortcut, click on the Shortcut tab, then change the value of the Run field to Minimized. When you run Procomm Plus from the modified shortcut, the program will appear minimized on your taskbar without the splash screen appearing. While the program's splash screen will still be displayed when you start Windows, it will not be seen when Procomm Plus itself is launched. Please note that this does not work for installations on Win95 or Win98 as Procomm Plus will crash if you attempt to run it minimized.

I had the same problem with a florist's machine running the Dove Network. It started right after I installed the ATI drivers for my video card. This goes to figure since the GDI.EXE file stands for Graphics Device Interface. I changed the hardware acceleration from FULL to NONE and it hasn't crashed since. To do this go to START -> SETTINGS -> CONTROL PANEL -> SYSTEM -> PERFORMANCE -> GRAPHICS. Move the slider from FULL to NONE and hit OK and close out of those windows. Go ahead and let Windows reboot and see if it happens again. Hope it works for you.
