Processes left running after uses logs off

We have been having some strange behavior on our Citrix XP for a while. Nothing we can think of has changed in the time thie problem started happening.

Users will crash or and they disconnect or logoff their session and some of the client processes do not stop running, there are a few we can kill in the Management console but some wont, and when the users tries to connect again, they can't run the app associated with that process.

I.E. if one of the last 16-bit apps we have running crashed ntvdn stays running, when the user logs back in the can't run that 16-bit app. However this problem is not unique to 16-bit apps, one user had mapisp32 stay running and they couldn't run Outlook. We are on Window Server 2000 SP4 Citrix XP SP3, the ICA client is current or at least v7.x or better.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Spaz, Did you get an answer? I have what sounds like the same situation. My user will exit from a published application and the application will still show as running on the server. He can log back in to the published app, but then the server shows 2 sessions for the user - and two licenses in use.

We're running MetaFrame XP FR3 on a Windows 2003 box with all the updates. The ICA client is 7.00.01.

Any clues are much appreciated. CR

I had that same issue with publish applications. When users hit "x" it would only disconnect their sessions and would leave it running on the server.

Basically there is a process not closing whenever the end-user closes the application. I had two servers that I had publish out Excel but only one actually logged off the user when they exited the application. I ran them side by side and I noticed that on one it had 3 processes and on the other it only had 2. Everytime I closed out the application with the 3 processes, the extra process would hang. Which caused the app to still run on the server. Anyways, here is what you need to modify in the registry.

"LogoffCheckSysModules"="ssonsvr.exe"

The "logoffchecksysmodules" is what you are needing to add. I noticed that on our server, ssonsvr would not close and that was causing our hangup with the app.

I have this problem also and have entered the registry fix, but to no avail. all 3 of my servers experience this problem with various applications on closing the app. i am using XPe FR3 SP4 on Windows 2000 SP4. on terminating the ssonsvr.exe process the sessions logoff correctly.

Any advice would be much appreciated.
