Hello. We are running NGX R60. One of our firewalls goes to 100% CPU usage, even after it is rebooted, and stays there. The process that is taking up all of the CPU is as follows:

/usr/bin/ipstcl /web/cgi-bin/sysut_processes.tcl

The firewall is a Nokia IP330. Has anyone seen this before?

Thanks,
Darnell.

i seen this sorta...we have ip380 and the processor was taking 100% on certain days, not all the time so could be different. Are issue is the 380 isnt big enough for our 45mbps line...plus page faults were being access cause we onhly had 256mb ram...now we put in 1gb ram we only see a 100% once a week on email days. We actually ordered 2 IP560 now. like im not sure on ur bandwidth but i know the 380 only supports 189mb at 64k packets!!

First of all, you need at least IPSO 3.9 or higher to run
NGx R60, and as far as I know, IP330 does NOT support IPSO
3.9 or higher. Secondly, the processor on the IP330 is an
AMD low end processor. After installing ipso and NGxR60,
you will 100% CPU utilization, even in distributed mode.

I am running my firewall with NGx R61 with IPSO 4.1 build 19
on and IP650 (700Mhz with 1GB of RAM) and the box is really
slow even in distributed mode (the nokia is being managed
by my provider-1). Kidem is right, you should be looking
at IP390 or IP560.

The IP330 went end of contract support on 30th September 2006, so you should look at upgrading it anyway...

IPSO 4.0 runs on the IP330, I have a couple running it and NGx R60, its not the fastest thing in the world, but is fine for a low throughput firewall. As soon as you start doing anything funky or vpns it will struggle, and don't even think about running the management & enforcement from the same box (not that I'd advise doing that anyway)
