Hi, I'm using BC9 MD110 version. I got a problem with our Power card PU4DC in one magazine or module and need to be replaced. What is the procedure to replace the faulty PU4DC card. Is it i need just to on and off and replace. One more thing, what is the different betwwen PU4DC and PU5DC in term of installation

Hello,

Quote from Enterprise Services Knowledge Base:

"We have been experiencing problems with the PU4DC boards. The problem is related to a capacitor, which begins leaking after being in operation for a period of time. When this happens, in most cases only the PU4DC board fails but in some cases adjacent circuit boards have been affected or the entire magazine may be damaged.
Our analysis of the scope of the problem, working together with the vendor of the component, shows that defective components are installed on boards produced during the period 1994 through 1996. However, we cannot rule out the possibility that defective components are also installed on some boards outside the period. We therefore decided to recommend replacement of all PU4DC power supplies.
There will be three replacement units: PU5DC, RG5DC and factory reconditioned PU4DC.
As we regard this as a premature wear out of the component on the PU4DC board, Ericsson Enterprise have decided to extend the offer of the swap replacement of the units.
The replacement program is prolonged and ends 2004-12-31."

You should ask your country Ericsson vendor to replace boards.

Is it will also effect the magazine?..
May i know who are Enterprise Services Knowledge Base, is it one of Ericsson research department?

As they say "in most cases only the PU4DC board fails but in some cases adjacent circuit boards have been affected or the entire magazine may be damaged".
Do you have spare board? If yes just replace it. Before replacement make DUSYI because it may cause reload.

There is not any difference between PU4DC and PU5DC in term of installation.

Hi, does anything in the part number or revision indicate the suspect power units????

Indication is available by production date.
On the label with revision and other info You can find string for example 02W96 that means 02 week 96 year
Suspect power units was produced from 1994 to 1996

dnaserver,

thanks everbybody,

no wonder, we frequently experiencing PU4DC problem, I have checked most of our pU4DC cards are manufacturer in 1996. That's mean we have the right to replace all PU4DC cards without any charges.
