I am called on occasionally to add or move extensions on a Destiny system, and I have run into a problem. Sometimes the 2410 display phones I install show their old extension number (the extension the set used to have) and not the extension of the port it is connected to. Entering the self-station display activation code gets no response, so I can't find the existing extension number to do a proper separation. If I do a merge, the new extension comes up and the set will dial out and receive calls, but the display shows a continuous string of digits dialed and never removes them. Anyone have an idea on how to get the set to drop its previous extension and display the extension of the port it is connected to?

I think the display that you are talking about is just the "labeling" of the set...sounds like the TTI is working ok..you just need to re-label the set. Should take care of your problem..

...bob...

I've also seen the continuous string of digits staying on a display after a number is dialed...can't recall if that came from having the wrong model phone programmed for that set or if the set had not completed "downloading" after it was moved. Running a test on the station usually completes that process.

The continuous string of digits on a display usually comes from having the phone setup wrong..i.e: not set for a "display"..used to happen a lot on the older 74xx series in Definity...
Might want to check set type...

This issue is a thorn in my side as well. The user moves or leaves and the set on the empty desk is TTI'ed out but shows the number of the last time it was in service. Now take a user that moved desks and has his extension on a new set TTI'ed in and the old set TTI'ed out show the same extension. The new user ASSUMES that the extension is open and active. He starts to use the phone and can make calls but the prior user starts to receive call for the new guy. We need a way to clear the old TTI'ed out set. When the numbers string across the display is a sign that the set is TTI'ed out.

These examples appear to be TTI / PSA bugs.

More information about contributing factors would be needed to test this. Some phones support one line display and others support two line display. Are station's set type natively supported in your version of Definity / CM or are you using an alias?

Hardware platform? Definity / CM software version?
Circuit pack type of port that digital set is wired to?
2-wire or 4-wire?
Programmed set type of previous station that was separated from this port?
Programmed set type of new station that is merged to this port?
Hardware type of connected voice terminal?

Check feature access codes below and note display when dialed from affected voice terminal. These codes do not work from a TTI / PSA port, but will work if the station is merged or associated to a port.

Self Station Display Activation: *7
or use the inspect button
Should display primary voice terminal's extension number

Refresh Terminal Parameters Access Code: *8
Used to update terminal parameters after software changes
or use busy station / release station / status station - this
makes download pending change to download complete and updates softkeys, etc.

TTI has had bugs off and on in it since around G3R v6. It was so bad that I turned it off. It was killing my station records so bad a year later I was still finding the little buggers..

When is the last time you helped someone, just because you were able to?
