Problems With SQL Agent Install Arcserve 11.1

Having recently sacked my support Company - I have an issue after a re-install of Arcserve with the SQL agent.

I have a 2003 server and a separate SQL 2000 server also running on Server 2003.

Can anyone guide me through the installation process for the SQL agent? The problem I have, when installing on the PDC 2003 server and installing the agent, I cannot select the SQL server through the SQL Server DBagent setup.

I know I am installing something incorrectly but cannot afford the downtime to correct until I get it right - seem to find only limited documentation for this process so far. If someone could offer a simple install guide to get the agent to connect to the SQL server I would be greatly appreciative.

Many Thanks

Chris

Ok I have sorted the issue - kind of self explanatory really!

Right okay - I have figured out the install is correct - (client installs on the SQL server itself) and I can now browse to the SQL databases through the backup job. I cannot however connect to thses databases even though all of the users I am trying have 'dbo' access rights.

I still can't connect to an 'instance' in the account configuration of the SQL agent - I am assuming I need to add an account here to allow access. None of the installed SQL databases appear in the drop down to select, and manually typing gives the 'enter valid instance name' error.

Getting a little stuck with this!!

Chris

Seems its not the problem afterall - I created a new database user with sysadmin rights and the backup is flying through perfectly.

Well, thanks for looking anyway!
