Hi Guys:

We have a SERVER F50.
I installed a package bos.64bit.4.3.3.75.U, but when I do getconf WORD_BIT returns 32.

# bootinfo -K
3
# bootinfo -y
32
# getconf WORD_BIT
32
# file /unix
/unix: symbolic link to /usr/lib/boot/unix_mp.

how can i set kernel to 64 bits?

Regards,
Marcos

The choice of whether you use a 64-bit or 32-bit kernel is made when you install the operating system. You cannot simply load a fileset.
If you wish to change your system from a 32 to 64 bit kernel will will have to re-install the O/S I'm affraid.

But when i install S.O., i don't have a option that i can choose 32 or 64 on AIX 4.3.3

What have i do?

Tks.

Tks,

I have been traying to set to 64 bits but i failed.

I have used via SMIT but this is impossible.

what's up?

I need to have ready the server.

The server es RS/6000 Server F50, two proccessors. The memory I/O controller has a separately clocked, 64bits mezzanine I/O bridge bus.

Processors are:
PowerPC 604e with its own 256 KB l2 cache.

Tks,

Hi:

Absolutely, PowerPC 604e RISC Microprocessor is 32-bit.

Oracle 9iR2 don't run on AIX 4.3.3 with SERVER F50.

Thanks,
