Help

i have an s8700 running r11 03.2.536.1 and a s8300 lsp running r12.
we have registered the lsp with the s8700 but the lsp will not receive translations.
we are able to ping all ip address bothways but are stil unable to get an translations.

The customer has no firewall to block ports and 802.1q tagging is disabled on the s8700.

has anybody else seen or know a resolution for thsi problem.

regards

lots of things could be wrong. i've had this problem a few times and had a document sent to me from tech support with several things to try.

that said, are you using "enterprise side" ip addresses for your lsp? not control network.

also, you have to be able to ping from and to your gateway with a packet size of 1500

If your S8700 is Multi connected, Configuration Translation will be transfer to S8300 LSP through Corporate Interface. So Pls confirm that your S8700 Corporate Interface have been connected your LAN, and can ping 8300 lsp via S8700 Corporate Interface. Pls Try Again

To all

The corporate lan interface is configured and i am able to ping all my gateways and processors.

Little tip if you did'nt know when you run sa tr lsp command it always comes back with sucess even if it fails ??????.

We have had this working on a local switch and the translations had previously saved.

i have found the documents that you have spoken about and now have lots to try.

thanks all for the replys and when fixed will reply to let you know what it was for future reference.

make sure that in system-parameters maint update lsp when saving trans is set to y.

I have experience that problem before. Translations won't save if the LSP and the 8700 are running different versions of CM.

The Primary Call Controller and LSPs can be run different releases of CM as long as the release on the PCC is less than or equal to the release on LSPs.

Hi Dave1706,

Go into the S8300 webinterface (maintenance) and go to Security / Firewall, select the Advanced settings button, and enable port 514 (shell) for incoming and outgoing traffic(I suspect incoming should be enough, but have not yet tested this).
This should fix the translation synchronisation problem.

Cheers,
Nico

Ooops, pressed submit just a little too fast..
In my previous reply I assume the LSP is in service (disp lsp), if not, you've got another problem.

Cheers,
Nico

The time on the two systems may not differ by more than 5 minutes. Also the time zone MUST be the same on both systems. Differences in time are handeled in CM software by tiemzone offset in the locations form. Verify the time is within 5 minutes.

To all

The problem was with the AIW when we updated the mgc and stack processor.
It should update the AIW with all settings entered in command line but it missed a . between the prmary controller interface address.
When found and corrected the lsp came to life and all has now been working for 4 days.

Thanks to all who replied and passed on such valuable information.
