Problems with RDP

Hello!

For a little bit over a year, I've been logging on to a remote desktop to work and as far back as I can remember, I've had no problems.

Now, all of the sudden, the keyboard-shortcuts decided to screw me over. In the past, the shortcuts (like alt+tab etc.) worked on the remote-desktop, if it was in full-screen.

Yesterday it decided to only support them on the local machine, meaning if I'm in full-screen on the remote-desktop, doing some work, and I press alt+tab, it shifts to another program on the local machine. It's the same deal with the Windows-button and every other shortcut I can remember.

I've tried editing the properties of the .rdp-file and set it up to always use the keyboard shortcuts on the remote desktop, but to no avail :-(

Anyone has any idea what's going on?

Have you recently installed Sp3? I know that did some screwy things (like change the /console to /admin)

Robert Wilensky:
We've all heard that a million monkeys banging on a million typewriters will eventually reproduce the entire works of Shakespeare. Now, thanks to the Internet, we know this is not true.

Have you checked your settings via the Remote Desktop Connection window and the Options button? Have a look at Local Resources/ Keyboard, see if you can set it to suit.

Hi

Apologies for the late response. Tek-tips decided not to send me an email, that someone responded :(

Sympology:
SP3 has been installed the whole time, so I don't think it's the culprit, unfortunately.

linney:
I've tried all three options, but no change at all, which makes me wonder a bit. There's probably a good reason to it all, but I can't seem to find it.

Is there any related error mentioned in your Event Viewer?

What happens if you remotely connect to another (different) machine?

Hi linney

No errors related.

I've tried connecting to three or four different servers, all with the same problem. I'm thinking it might be my mstsc that's causing all of this.

I should probably try updating it :)

Hmm, no, I haven't actually. I'll try that tomorrow when I get to work!

And again, apologies for the late response. Seems tek-tips has some problems with their e-mail notifications.
