I am trying to install Personal ORACLE 8.1.6 on Windows 2000 Spk 4, my PC configuration is :

Processor: Pentium IV 1.4 GHZ
RAM : 256 Mb.

when the installation software are running, I received an error like that :

Error: "The area is not valid. There aren't superior level components for Windows NT availables for the installation..."

someone do have any idea to solve this???

thanks.

Someone is going to come along in a minute and ask

Why are you using 8.1.6 - its been desupported for ages ?

Why are you not using 10i ?

Alex

Hi,
Be sure you are logged in as an administrator on that PC..

Check to be sure that version is supported on W2K SP4.

Thanks for your comments,

Alexhu,

Can I work with Personal Oracle 10i and Forms 6i?

thanks again.

Pablo

Whenever I see personal oracle, I assume that it is being used for education.

If this is true in your case then there is a later version of forms as well as database which you would do well to consider, rather than using obsolete software.

If this is not the case, then I do not know whether the old version of forms works with 10i :-(

Alex

Alexhu, in my company we have aplications developed in forms 6i with Oracle 9i.

Is necesary that a coleague learn this old software by himself, for that reason he must install Fomrs 6i in his house computer.

which configuration do you recommend to learn Forms 6i?

thanks.

I think you have just answered your own question.

If you are using 6i / 9i in house - why are you not learnign that ?

I wish this board would get an 'edit after post' facility :)
