I am having a problem with both of my clients, and their NIS_COLD_START file. When booting the system up I get an error start the NIS_COLD_START file. When the system has booted up completely the nis_cachemgr is not running.
Running the nisinit -c -H (NISSERVER) then rebooting appears to work but only once. If the client reboots again the same error will occur. I have completely removed NIS+ from both the clients and the Server. Then rerun the NISSERVER and NISCLIENT commands. This has had no effect.
Any NIS+ experts out their?

Problems with security patch 103612-38, installed on about
200 NIS+ clients. The NIS+ cache manager does not run after
adding these patches, giving a message:
error in reading nis cold start file: /var/nis/NIS_COLD_START

nisclient -i fixed the problem with reboot and keylogin -r.
The actual problem is in nis_shared_dircache.

Followed the following procedures:
Client: /etc/init.d/rpc stop
rm -f /etc/.rootkey
rm -rf /var/nis/*
rm -f /etc/defaultdomain
/etc/init.d/rpc start

Master Server: nisclient -v -d [domain_name] -c [client_machine]

Client: nisclient -v -i -h [master_machine] -a [master i.p.] -d [nis_domain]

Client: init 6

Client: login as root. keylogin -r (when asked insert root passwd.)

Client: init 6

Problem still exists. Did I do something incorrectly?
