I recently was asked to hookup a valcom digital messaging system to my switch. We were using Muzak but to keep costs down we switched to the valcom. Now that I have swapped it out not all calls are getting the music on hold. Some incoming calls and some internal calls. When dialing my acod I'm getting a fast busy and I should be hearing music. This is really frustrating. Please help

What Valcom unit is it? Make sure you are using a 600 ohm output from the Valcom unit. If all you did was change the music source it makes no sense that you are hearing it in some places and not others.

Thanks. Its a v-998 Digital Messaging system and yes Im at 600 ohm output. My wife just called and she heard the music when I put her on hold but Its very sparatic.

Well it's a pretty simple box. Looks like it has a monitor speaker. When it stops working in the phone system I would press the monitor speaker and see if it's working at the unit. I'm assuming you removed the Muzak input and installed the Valcom's input to the same location? If that is the case then my guess is you have a bad unit or the audio file is not being read properly. Are you using the built in music or an external audio file you made?

I appreciate your help. I have a buttset hooked up to the trunk to hear it play continiously. There seems to be no interuptions in the audio file. Im using the built in music. I'm hearing it on some internal calls but not others. Same with incoming & outgoing. i should be able to dial my acod and hear the music. Shouldn't I?

As long as TGAR isn't stopping you then yes, you should be able to dial the ACOD and hear music. Make your test phone TGAR 0 and you should be good to go.

Nope. My tgar is set to 0. Still fast busy. I outed my trunks and rebuilt them same with my route

They shouldn't stat busy. Maybe reverse polarity on the music input?

tryed reversing polarity but they still remain busy. Should they all be idle?

i tryed disabling all cards and enabling but they go right to busy. Have you ever heard of this?

Never seen this that I can remember. Is there a reason you outed them and rebuilt them? I'm wondering if you upgraded your switch previously and everything converted. Then you outed them and rebuilt them and now they don't work because of a package restriction. In LD 22 if you print your SLT's what does it show for MusCon?

I'm assuming those are valid conference loops and the conference loops are enabled?

when I print slt's in ld 22 it says mus con 0 left 0 used 0

If I remember correctly you need music trunks in every network group. Music won't go across the network.
