I'm having problems connect to my MS SQL Server 7.0. In Coldfusion Studio I try to do a query but it always says somethign about login failed for "/". Even when I choose a login it says the exact same thing. How do you connect to an MS SQL Server with coldfusion?

I too am having a problem with RDS in CF studio and SQL 7.0
In my case I have SQL 7.0 on a seperate machine to CF server and I think this may be causing the RDS logon problem
Sorry this is not a direct answer but if you have the database on the same machine as the CF server try the server password and get your server administrator to set up a http url mapp (something.somethingelse.com) and a port no of 80.

Good luck!

IT is on a different machine. Both which I control and maintain but cannot get it to work with coldfusion

You must make sure that CF Server and MS SQL Server are run under the same domein account. If not there is no way to connect to SQL Server from CF

JNC73

Err, I have sorted out my problem with the SQL 7.0 on a seperate box to CFserver.

I can now view my tables from studio.

We set up a coldfusion account on both the cfserver host machine (NT/2000 administrator) and on the SQL 7.0 machine. Then changed the password on CFserver (basic security on CFserver)to same password as the coldfusion NT/2000 account. Do the same on service manager (same user/password again) and bingo! can now view remote SQL 7 tables.

Hope this helps

Sorry, thats not what I meant. What do you mean by: on a seperate box to CFserver.? Is your SQL server and CFserver on the same machine?

No they are on 2 different machines.
I thought that not having a Cfserver on the database server would cause the problem, but it has not.
It just seems to be an account issue.

Go to CFAdmin page -> Basic security -> uncheck the password for coldfusion studio, then it won't prompt the password window, or you just key in the password you have given to coldfusion studio when the time you installed it.
