I'm have recently installed AIX 6.1 on our new power systems 570 machines.
When I try to get the first LPAR on the local network I'm having problems configuring the LAN adapter.
I'm able to set the ip address and the other settings, but when I press enter to activate it takes several minutes for the task to complete.
When it finish there is still no active connection. No light on the network card either.

Anyone seen similar problems?

Do you see any error messages in errpt -a output?

It could be that the network card is malfunctional! Try assinging it to a different LPAR and see whether you can assign the IP address and get it working over there!

Regards,
Khalid

Are you sure the adapter is assigned correctly to your lpar ?

Problem solved now.
Got help from an IBM technician.
