Hello...

We have a couple of problems with the Exchange agent for Arcserve 2000. We are running Exchange 2000.

I have installed and licensed the agent as usual.

When I try to backup the exchange information store. I get the error "E8608 can't enumerate database...". I can't find the answer to this in the support section.

Also, when I try to configure the brick level, I provide an account for it to use, but I get EC=1314 and it will not accept the account. This account has full control in exchange 2000.

Is this a permission issue?

Make sure you login to the exchange server as the Exchange agent Account and then configure the exchange agent.

If you are able to expand the brick level and see the individual mailboxes the agent configuration can be skipped.

Thats what I did though. I logged in as the backup agent user and the exact same thing happens.

I'm having a similar problem. I can backup the individual mailboxes, but I can't expand the information store. If I try to back it up I get the error "unable to enumerate database."

I also am having a simular problem, I can back up bricks no problem, but I can not expand or select anything in the IS.

Follow the following steps.

1)Uninstall the arcserve backup agent for MS Exchnage on the exchnage server

2)Download Sp3 from the URL given below,

3) Use winzip and Extract Sp3 .
4) After its extracted you will have a folder called Exchnage.DBA
5) Use setup under the exchange.DBA folder and install the agent
6) Then apply sp4 for exchange agent

This is basically a version problem.
Do the following and get rid of it.

For 1314 check out the FAQ written by Speshalyst
This has to fix your problem.

Thanks for the advise. I have been struggling with this for a week!! The process works fine!!

Cheers,

Whe had the same problems at some of our customers sites.

The following simple solution also works:

Open Server Manager > Database Engine > Operations > Initialise Database (all) > restart your agent services ...

Worked everytime....

Is the setup in exchange.DBA from sp3 only a patch? Can I use it to restall the Backup agent as well or do I reinstall from disk, run SP3 and then SP4?
