Dear Friends,

I have many DTA and DMV files from a system that was used for 3 or 4 years ago. The problem is, that those files were used by an application which doesn't exists anymore :( The files include some financial data of our company and I need to open those files but still have no idea what should I use to open them. I know that Btrieve files can bo converted to sql via ODBC. If someone could tell me if there is any freeware to manage this problem I'd by very happy :)

Thanks for any help.
Daniel

Do you have the DDF files. These include file.ddf, field.ddf and index.ddf. They define the file structure. If you have these you should be able to use ODBC to extract the data. If not then you need to either get them from the program vendor or you will have to build them. If you need to build the DDF files you can check out BtSearch at It will help you analyze the structure. Then once built you can use ODBC to connect to the data.

Daniel,

Download the latest Pervasive trial DB and see if any of the conversion tools work with what you have. Post how far you get.
