Hi
I need some help in configuring Sybase Adaptive server 12.5. I downloaded 12.e ASE. I installed on Win-2000 server.
When I try to configure the server it shows a list of servers and after selecting it asks the password for the user 'sa'. I typed the password, it says
"it is running, do you want to stop it".
As soon as I press 'yes' button it takes a while and comes out with an error
"SERVER ERROR : Failed to boot server 'Partha' "
I tried all possible passwords with th user 'sa' and I got the same error.
I tried to configure new server and again the same thing.
This has happened to all the servers I tried to configure.

Can anybody advice me how to proceed in this situation so that I can have the server running. Is there any default password for the user 'sa' which is stored by Sybase Database.
Thanks in advance
Partha

Hi,

I know the defauly password for sa login is null.

Just you need to press Return/Enter button.

Hi ,
Thanks for the suggestion.
I landed onto another problem. I installed Syste Designer which installs SQL Anywhere which is sybase products.
It has corrupted my Sybase ASE-12.5. I am unable to start the server nor configure the server.
It just says
"could not allocate context structure in syb_system_default_charset()"

Then it displays the error message
"Could not allocate context structure in syb_system_default_language()"

Then it displays the next error message as
"Could not allocate context structure in syb_system_day()"

Then it displays the next error message as
"Could not allocate context structure in syb_system_month()"

Then it closes and it is not allowing to do anything.
Does anybody suggest me what to do in order to get Sysbase server running. Pls help !!
Thanks in advance
Partha

Hello:

Glad to hear someone else besides me is also having problems with WIN2K installation. I get the same error messages "could not allocate..." that you posted on Oct 29.

Please let me know if there is a resolution at your end. I am desparate now to get it fixed without having to format my drive.
