I installed CR 9 trial-version and now I have some problems with table linking. I was using CR 8.5 before, with Btrieve database. When I open some of my old reports, I don't get the right data... most of my records are missing.

If I create a simple new report with CR 9, using a direct connection to the database, 2 linked tables, I get an empty report. If I do the same thing through ODBC connection, it works fine. When I make the same report in CR 8.5, it also looks fine. Now, when I open the CR 8.5 report in CR 9, I get all the records on the report, but the data from the linked table is missing!
What am I missing here??
Thanks.

CR v9 does not support a native btrieve connection. You have to go ODBC. Software Sales, Training and Support for Macola, Crystal Reports and Goldmine

Dgillz:
What do you mean - does not support? What about that option in Database Expert - Available data sources - Btrieve?? Is it there only to confuse us?!
Is there anything about that 'little change' documented?
Thanks a lot,
T.

Tamina,

Now I am only going on hearsay on this one, but I was under the impression that you cannot connect natively to a btrieve 6.15 database in CR v9. I got this from other posts in this forum, among other places. Software Sales, Training and Support for Macola, Crystal Reports and Goldmine

Just a simple and quick question, did you try to verify database within cyrstal after this occured?

Dgillz:
My problem is that I actually can connect natively to my Btrieve database, but there's something very wrong with table-linking.

Roadkill:
I tried verifying database, nothing changed.
Any other hints?
Do you use CR9 with Btrieve successfully?

Thanks.

Tamina -

I am having same trouble as you, but in Crystal Reports 8.5 version. I've tried different ways to link my database to Crystal Reports, yet I ended up with no solutions. I was wondering if you got any other ideas about link problems. Thanx

Tiffany,

On a native connection to a btrieve database, you are limited to linking only on indexed fields. If you connect through ODBC, you will not have this limitation. Software Sales, Training and Support for Macola, Crystal Reports and Goldmine
