Although I've had Illustrator for years (I'm still on Illustrator 8 with plans to upgrade soon), I just recently started expermenting with the area type tool. The problem is as I type and the line gets to the edge of the area (say a circle), the line will keep jumping down to the next baseline instead of filling up the circle unless I hit the return button. Any ideas? Thanks.

I don't have access to Illustrator 8, but I just tried with version 10 and it seems to work ok. Are you typing words with spaces between them, or is it just lots of letters? If it's the latter, then Illustrator probably doesn't know where to break, so it moves it down a line to make more room. You could try using Auto Hyphenation; it's one of the options in the Paragraph palette, in version 10 at least.

Full Justify may cause that to happen, too. It will make as long of a line as possible so it has a tendency to jump down...

Thank you blueark, that was exactly the problem. I was typing a bunch of letters expermentally, thus the problem. Duh! Thanks again, both of you.
