I am havin gsome roubles with a MS database, and I had some help but it didint work. SO who ever was helping me (or anyone else who wants to have a had it it) heres the Recap:
I have a databse that opens on one computer and not another, the guy who was helping me suggested to look at the references and I didi that, and I noticed that one was missing:

MicroSoft DAO 2.5/3.5 Compatibility Library.

To test my theory, I turned off that refernces on the working one and the DataBase Quit working. As soon as I turned it back on, it started working again. So my question is How do I import that references into the bad computer? Note: I am using MSOffice2000

I'm no expert, but I don't think you can import a reference as such. I would try reinstalling access on the machine that doesn't work properly, making sure that you click the install everything button.

Hope this helps!

Hi

The DAO (Date Access Objects I think) are available for download form the microsoft website. If this doesnt resolve the problem are there any error messages ? The computer that works may also be part of a workgroup (run wrkgadm) check that the other computer is part of the same workgroup.

Cheers
Colin

Well I reinstalled MSOffice and nothing happened. I didint know you can download file. I know this is probably a dumb question but how do you do that? It is looked in a certain place on the site or can you find it by just doing a search?

hello there
try this:
on the computer that says MISSING:... on the line of the DAO reference, try to find other DAO versions (their names all start with microsoft dao #.##...), and tick them INSTEAD of the missing one, then compile.
aim for newer versions than the missing one (eg: 3.60)

You can either try to find the version of the DAO library that's already on that person's machine or go back to your library and when you select your library in References, at the bottom you will see where it's located (file name). Then copy this to a floppy or CD and copy it to their computer. Then in their References, point to that file. You can just place it at the top level, c:

This is a pain in the you know what. You develop a database using certain libraries such as some activeX controls, but they're not on the computer you transfer the database to so you have to do some manipulation.

It's amazing to me that this so called advanced technology doesn't have one universal lib.
