Problems with a filtered query in a chart

Here's an easy question for all you Access smarties.
I have a simple pie chart on a report. Its control source is the same query the report is based on. When I filter the records in the query, say for 1 week or month, the report shows only the filtered data, but not the chart. The chart still shows data for the entire year. Please help! New to the whole Acces charting thing.
