Problems with 420 stacks

Hi all.

Im administering a MAN with about 900 units, mostly 420s and 450s, and some BPS switches. We use Passport 8006 in our backbone.

Lately I have experienced some problems with stacks of 420s, I keep losing the connection with them, the Base light on the base unit goes orange. After coldstarting them I get them up again. We are running 1.1.2.27 on the 420s...
Has anyone experienced this before?

Is the base unit button set on the base unit?

A base unit LED going orange/amber, is typical if the base unit dies, and the next unit in the stack takes the baseunit place.

If you say that it is the base unit itself that changes from green to amber, I would check some hardware. Either the stacking cables or the switch it self.

We have several customers with 420 stacks, with different software, and I have never seen this problem before. We mostly use code 1.1.3.

3.0 is out, but we have no experience with it yet.

Yeah, we have a few hundred other 420s working fine as well, its just these past few weeks we've been experiencing this, with standalone units as well, I was wondering if someone knew about a bad batch of switches from nortel or something like that...=)

Hello,
We too are experiencing this problem with the base unit base light going from green to amber/orange. Unless we reset the units nothing works.

Both BS 420 are using FW:1.0.0.28 SW:v1.1.2.27

Can any guide me why such a thing is happening
