Hi everyone....

not sure if this is the correct forum as i'm not sure what te problem actually is but i thought i would at least start here...

I have a friend who i'm trying to help out with his new pc it is a 64 bit machine running windows 7 -

the 64 bit EI seems to be working ok - but of course flash and other such things do not work on it so I have to use the 32 bit browser to view these things (have tried both ie and firefox)... however...

I cannot view flash content (eg youtube) and active x does not seem to be working properly (for 32 bit only)...

in trying to solve this problem I went to a site called pc pitstop where you can test your active x installation... through running the test it told me that the problem was 'probably' that active x was installed but not scripting properly... i then proceeded to 'fix' the active x settings as per that site's (and others) instructions and am still having no luck...

does anyone have any hints as to what to try next (& no i dont have any firewalls, virus scanners causing problems as I have unenstalled them in the meantime while i try to find a solution).

thanks for any bones you can possibly throw my way!!!! :)

According to the vendor, you should be able to use the following tool (if needed) to uninstall Adobe Flash Player from your computer:

You might want to uninstall Flash Player components and then browse to YouTube. Or, instead go directly go to the next section first (PSI below).

It should then tell you that you have or now need to install flash components. It will load 4 components (2 for 32 bit - C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\ folder and 2 for 64 bit -
C:\windows\syswow64\ folder).

Also, consider running Secunia Personal Software Inspector (PSI):

You may find that you have missing or out-of-date components that need updating. Check out 'Patched' TAB for 4 installed (Adobe) flash components.

Is the ActiveX Installer Service in Services set to Disabled? It should have a Startup Type of Manual.

Have you tried creating another user and testing with that?
