I have been trying to figure this out for hours now. Can't seem to solve it. This should be simple, but I can't get the output I want. I have a report with this layout:

grp1 [cust id]
grp2 [category]
grp3 [Date time]
Then details
gfooter
gfooter
gfooter

Always the report displays like this:

grp1 [cust id]
grp2 [category]
grp3 [Date time]
Then details
gfooter
gfooter
gfooter

grp1 [cust id]
------------new page------------
grp2 [category]
grp3 [Date time]
Then details
gfooter
gfooter
gfooter

grp1 [cust id]
------------new page------------
grp2 [category]
grp3 [Date time]
Then details
gfooter
gfooter
gfooter

grp1 [cust id]
------------new page------------
grp2 [category]
grp3 [Date time]
Then details
gfooter
gfooter
gfooter

I have no options set in the groups that should put grp1 at the bottom of the page with no data till the next page. Keep group together is not set under change group.

If I suppress grp1 then the layout is fine.
anyone have any ideas what I could try
version 11.5

I would be fine if grp1 would print on the
next page with the other data, but it is not working for me either...

grp1 [cust id]
grp2 [category]
grp3 [Date time]
Then details
gfooter
gfooter

------------new page------------

grp1 [cust id]
grp2 [category]
grp3 [Date time]
Then details
gfooter
gfooter

Try going into the group expert->group #1->options and check "keep group together".

Sorry to say, that's checked, tried un checking it too!

In Section Expert try checking New Page After opposite the Grp1 Footer

Ian

I tried checking new page after grp1 footer and I get two page breaks, like this:

grp1 [cust id]
------------new page------------
grp2 [category]
grp3 [Date time]
Then details
gfooter
gfooter
gfooter
------------new page------------
grp1 [cust id]
------------new page------------
grp2 [category]
grp3 [Date time]
Then details
gfooter
gfooter
gfooter
------------new page------------

Not sure if this is a report from scratch or if you are fixing an existing report but, make sure there isnt a formula in the X-2 in Section expert GRP1 Header

I figured this out, But I don't understand why it works. All of this started with Me trying to repeat the group header on each page. [A previous post]

LBass had a suggestion:
You also could have suppressed GH_b using a formula in the section expert:

inrepeatedgroupheader

When I suppressed the group this formula everything worked. I would love to know why this worked! Thanks LBass!
[not inrepeatedgroupheader]

i would like to vertically align a group with the details section. is that possible

jtgiles,

You should start a new thread since this is a different topic.
