I have had all sorts of problems connecting to a Partner ACS 6.0 remotely. I have been working with the vendor and they are not sure of what the problem is.
The first problems was unable to connect dialing in, and I fixed that by using w98 and a US Robotics 33.6 modem set for 1200 baud. Able to connect through VM and the operator. I am also able to backup and retrieve the translations with out a problem.
The problems is after I make the changes and save the file I can not send it. It comes back 100% of the time with operation failed. I remain connected to the Partner and keep trying. I see data bytes being sent but the percent bar does not change. Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi tls104,
Have you tried to drop the connection and reconnect. Then just send the xlation? I have only seen that when I have a bad line or noisy system.

If you are a business partner, call AVAYA, and check your software release of remote admin. The current release that is supposed to fix all the connection issues is 6.0.0.11. BUT, there is also a flash upgrade for the R6's and T1 cards that needs to be done that fixes bugs including connecting remotely.
I did a job for someone and upgraded both the processor and the remote admin and Have had no problem connecting to that particular site, BUT.....that is the only one I can connect remotely to.

I have tried reducing the connection speed and reconnecting.
I also have the Remote Admin v6.0.09. I have been dealing with Avaya and they don't seem to know what the issues is. They have not mentioned the fixes either. They have tested at the local site and dialed in with no issues (using the same local provider - in other words not being handed off between CO's). I have been able to connect with out any problems to another remote Partner that has the same local provider as I do. I had the other provider check the lines for noise issues and they inform me that there lines are good. They said if I can make a call without being disconnected then their lines are good. Does any one know what I should have them test?

Hi tls104,
There is a range of line levels that is considered okay. If you are near the bottom of the range on both ends, you may have trouble. The human ear can't really tell. Maybe a tester from the LEC will help out here.

Try using a US Robotics 56K modem. Make sure it is a white one not a black one. I had a similar problem and after much trying of different things that worked.

Hi tls104,
Your modem should be okay (33.6K USR). What you may want to try is to go on site. See if you can save the program on your laptop there. Also, pull the batteries on the KSU and cycle the power. Then restore from the card. Then try to call out on a line & connect & see if the problem is resolved. I have had systems that act funny & had to do that.
