I just loaded Quark 6 this week onto a new Mac G5. I've been using Quark for 7 years and have never had a printing problem like this.
I can't seem print any Quark file to the GCC Postscript printer it is networked to without previewing it first. If I do not preview the the document will go to the printer for about 3 seconds and then nothing. I look at the printer and it isn't processing anything. My command to print just vanishes. I don't have problems with any other program I work with, InDesign, Illustrator, and Word, for example are fine. I'm baffled that those programs will print and Quark will not. I've already reloaded software for both Quark and the printer. My collegue loaded all the exact same software (different licenses) on her new tower and she doesn't have the printing problem.
Has someone else experienced this printing problem?

What is the best way to update ppd file? go to printer's website- or use adobe.

I have downloaded the PPD from GCC's website. That's what is baffling – to have two similar Macs with the same software and this very different printing problem.

go to utility menu and select ppd manager...check if your printer is listed there..if not the update the printer ppd ...if this dos't work reinstall the ppd on your machine using the original printer driver CD.i hope this works..!!!

think I found a fix. We discovered that "system fonts" such as, Courier, Symbol, Geneva, etc where being opened within Suitcase and within the System Folder. We we deleted the open font within Suitcase the job prints. These fonts are opening in jobs that don't even have the fonts included in the job. We are now going to delete these fonts (turn them off) within Apples Font Book. Please let me know if this works for anyone else.

One of the problems is every time we update any Microsoft or Adobe or Apple True type fonts are dump in folders without your knowledge, so you have to do periodic checks within FONT BOOK.

Thanks,

BILL
