Hi all,
I use 1024 x 768 to view web pages and hence my own web pages are always viewed by me in this res. I don't make them super large, I try to aim for 800 x 600, but I have a problem that may be related to that or maybe my tables.

I want to print off my web page which has no frames but just a few tables: the problem is the right hand side gets chopped off on A4 paper. I expected my table of width 550 to be reduced to fit, but alas it doesn;t look that way.

Any thoughts on this? Do I really need to create a copy of the page and re-structure the tables?

It's difficult, at best , to get a web page to print on a single sheet of paper. Each printer model has it's own margin restrictions and this, coupled with any border widths that occur on your pages, will almost always cause your problem. There are some things you can do but it depends a lot on your printer or how much work you want to put into your pages. Some printers offer a selection to size the page to the printable area. Or try printing in "landscape" mode to gain additional width. Uses more paper but what the heck, trees abound! You could also offer a "printer friendly" page and do away with any menus or banners you may have. Of course, you could always rebuild your pages and make them small enough to fit the print medium.

There's always a better way. The fun is trying to find it!

If you can find a way to convert your page into PDF format, your problem is solved. PDF does not depend on screen resolution or page margin settings on your browser.

medic is correct in that PDF files are resolution independant. However, PDF files require a plug-in to be displayed within a web browser and that is an option that is not set up in a default browser installation. And I'm not certain that you can add links to a PDF file and have them functional when displayed in a browser.

There's always a better way. The fun is trying to find it!
