Problems Moving GW 4.1 PO users to GW 5.5 PO 2

I am currently running a GW 4.1 PO and a 5.5 MTA. I recently setup a GW 5.1 PO and slowly began moving users from the 4.1 PO to the 5.5 PO. Before I move the 4.1 user, I do an Analyze/Fix of their account and a Structural rebuild, then a synchronization. After the move, I synchronize both POs and the Domain. When I check NWADMIN in the GW view, I see the user listed under the GW 5.5 PO, however, when I check the address book using the GW 4.1 client, the user is still listed as a 4.1 user. When I use AD.exe, the user is listed as a member of the 5.5 PO. When I close out AD.exe, the user now shows up in address book as a 5.5 PO user, but there is still a listing for the user under the 4.1 PO. Plus, when the user accesses the GW 5.5 client, none of their e-mail has made the move. I have tried everything I can think of but I cannot fix this. The only foolproof way I know to do this is to have the user archive all their mail (in GW 4.1), then I delete their GW 4.1 account, setup a new GW 5.5 account (taking note of the new FID) and then having the user rename their archive folder to match the new FID, opening the GW 5.5 client, then opening the archive and converting the files to GW 5.5. This is a long winded method, but it works, however, this is not supposed to work this way. The move from 4.1 to 5.5 should work with no problems.
I know this is a long description, but I wanted to fully explain the problem. If anyone can offer help, it would be greatly appreciated. THANKS

I had the same problem about a year and a half ago. I could move the user from 4.1 to 5.5 but the mail would not follow them. I played around with this for a while and decided to do exactly what you are doing. I only had about 45 PO Boxes and most of the users opted not to move any mail over so it went pretty smooth.
I suspect that this process did not work correctly because of the jump from 4.1 to 5.5 skipping 5.1 & 5.2 in between.

Any way the end result is a functional GroupWise 5.5 system, it just took longer to get there.

We did this earlier this year (moved from 4.1 to 5.5)
Most of the process went smoothly, but a couple of mailboxes didn't make it.
What we did is brought those boxes back to 4.1 level, then re-converted them. That seemed to do the trick.

Hope this helps, and good luck!

The main problem is how the Gw4.1 ada/poa move the information.

In Gw4.1 the user and his messages would be moved as seperate jobs. The problem was that the moving of messages was given a higher priority than the move of the userid. There are a number of TID's regarding this. With gw5.x the agents sent the user then the messages. It would not send messages till it had confirmed the user move. This is why you will see the user in the new po but have no messages.

The messages will follow but can take time. There is a very good TID on support.novell.com Number 10023814. This explains( in some detail) what needs to be done.
