I am having a hard time installing NetShield 4.5 on a Win2k Server machine. It worked fine a few days ago when I installed it, but since then I have reformatted the hard drive and re-installed win2k Server (don't ask), anyways, here's the error I get:

Scan32: Failed to initialize the McPal library
Failed to initialize the McPal library
Unable to open shared registry key.

What causes this error? How can I fix it or get around it. I really need to get this installed but can't find help anywhere. Thanks in advance,

Did you get a solution to this as I have the very same problem on NT4 server!

TIA

I ended up calling McAfee support, and I found out it was due to some legacy registry keys that were present and that were throwing NetShield off.

What I ended up doing (with the help of the support guy) was going through the registry deleting varoius keys...

I can't recall which ones they were, as it's been nearly a year since then, but if you have a support contract, they should be able to help. I think, don't quote me on this, that with the version of windows I was installing, some keys were preset by microsoft for NetShield, but before that final version of NetShield was released, those values were changed, something like that...

Hope that helps or gives you a starting point,
