Hey all.. kind of a strange one here.. was running win ME no problem, installed NAV03 no problem, ran good. Upgraded to win XP, re-installed new version of NAV03 for xp, the installer runs about 75 percent thru- no error messages, but then all of a sudden starts unwinding the installation right before it completes. In the process of rolling back it corrups IE6.0 beyond repair.. IE6.0 won't run any websites with scripting or display any version/about IE info, and won't print. The only fix that works is to reinstall the entire win XP to reinstall IE6.0 ver 2600.. then everytime I try to reinstall NAV it fails halfway thru, unwinds, and corrupts IE again. Kinda frustrating to have to keep reinstalling the drivers and upgrading XP/IE6 every time... any help appreciated... thx

Howdy:

Have you disabled the on-board av program located in BIOS ??

Am I correct in thinking that you upgraded inplace to XP from ME with NAV installed? I've never heard of that upgrade path working. NAV gets really funny when installed on a system going through a upgrade.

Stuff is getting left in the system, the install sees it and kicks back.

You'll either:
Need to wipe your system and do a clean install (the best way) OR
Unistall NAV, and manually uninstall all the registry entries relating to NAV and delete any folders you find. (There's a doc in the Symantec KB about how to manually unistall NAV.) Then reinstall. =============
