I have a NT wkstation and I'm trying to install Internet explorer 4.0. As soon as I put the CD in it gives me a message that Shlwapi.dll cannot be found. I copied the dll from another NT 4.0 Wkstation with the same build number but then it says that it can't find an entry point StNa...in the dll. I deleted several key files as it was suggested to me in another forum. I deleted wininet.dll, urlmon.dll, shlwapi.dll, shdocvw.dll, insing.dll, digsig.dll,jobexec.dll, wintrust.dll. But still when I start the install, right away it says it can't find shlwapi.dll. I can't find Shlwapi.dll on either the IE 4.) cd or the win NT 4.0 cd. I don't even know why this computer doesn't have the dll and others do. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

That's why microsoft made Service pack 3 :)

Try installing it (or re-installing it)
This could be an Active Setup problem.
Delete the Shlwapi.dll. Using Regedit delete the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup
Verify that the Oleaut32.dll file is present in the Windows\System32 folder. If this file is not present, extract a new copy from the installation distribution.

In the <systemroot> (usually the \WINNT) folder, rename the following file with a .old file extension:

Active Setup Log.txt

Re-run setup.
Karl,
I did reinstall sp3 and then tried to install ie4.0 but it didn't work. But I did find a solution. One of the programmers here suggested I try ie5.0 and guess what, it worked. Thanks for the info though.
