I have an ATI All In Wonder Radeon 32mb card. Just installed Win XP Pro. Used all updated drivers from ATI but the video capture drivers do not want to install for some reason. Everything else seems to be working with the video. I have tried several different ways to install, but to no avail. I even used the advice from ATI about uninstalling and then reinstalling. Is there some special combination needed to install these drivers? The card works perfectly on both Win2K and Win98. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the exact same card.

Go to and download the newest DirectX (8.1) as well as the "video capture update for DirectX 8.0".

Then install the newest ATI drivers, followed by the multimedia center. (make sure you have un-installed the older versions first) All should be well after that.

Once that is done, if you happen to have the PC randomly lock-up or go to a black screen followed by a reboot within 5 minutes, let me know 'cause I have a solution for that also. (If it happens to you).

I finally got the capture working, but every time I try to go in to the TV applet my computer locks up and does a minidump. The only thing I did differently was reboot after installing the capture and drivers, then install the MMC. Thanks for the help. Can you make it 2 for 2?

Try this:

Right-click on the desktop background. Select "properties" from the menu. Click on the "setiings" tab. Click on "advanced". Now select "troubleshoot". Bring the "hardware acceleration" slider bar down 2 notches. Make sure "enable write combining" is NOT ckecked.

See if that helps. (it did for me)
