Hi.

I just installed CISCO VPN client (version 3.6 I believe) on my XP computer at home. I keep getting an error message when I launch the software saying that the connection status cannot be found. When I try to connect to my workplace another message pops up saying the connection cannot be initialized.

If I look in the properties, on the last tab, I get a message saying the phonebook entries cannot be retrieved.

Can anyone help me out?

Thanks,

Matthieu

Thanks! I will try it out. No, I don't have any problems web surfing. I have a DSL connection.

Go to services panel and check out if the Cisco VPN services is running, if yes, restart it and then try opening the vpn client software.

Cheers,
T S

Are you connecting with a certificate or a shared key? If a certificate, look at the Cisco site for known issues with certain cable/DSL routers regarding fragmented packets and IKE

I have seen this on W2K and XP system and uninstalling and reinstalling fixes 99% of the problems. I just rolled out VPN 3000 from VPN 5000 for 2000 users.
